Achillies Tang

Achillies Tang
Achillies Tang
(Acanthurus Achilies)

What is the maximum size?
They can reach 24cm.

Where is its origin and where is it exported from?
The Achilles Tang comes from the Indo Pacific.

Is it Reef Compatible?
Yes generally safe. Will browse on any algae in the tank and if underfed may nip at some corals. New introductions are prone to catching parasitical infections so feed with garlic enriched foods, for example frozen brine shrimp and garlic. Use a UV steriliser if possible to help reduce the chance of infections which are hard to clear up in reef systems.

What should I feed it?
Best to feed a varied diet with plenty of algae and frozen foods, live food and aquarium flake. Best kept with live rock as it’s a grazing fish.

How many can I keep?
This fish is best kept on its own.

How compatible is it with other fish?
Can be aggressive and territorial. May be aggressive towards its own kind. Take care if introducing with other similar fish and tangs as there is likely to be aggression.

Can it be bred in the aquarium?
No.
