Platax Pinnatus

What is the maximum size?
They can reach 45cm. The photo shows the juvenile colouring, as the fish grows it will change colour and shape, the adult fish is silver.

Where does it come from?
The Red Faced Batfish comes from the Western Pacific.

Is it Reef Compatible?
Will harm some corals and anemones.

What should I feed it?
Can be difficult to feed, live food is recommended to help get them to start feeding. Best to feed a varied diet of frozen foods such as mysis and brine shrimp, algae and live food. New introductions are prone to catching parasitical infections so feed with garlic enriched foods, for example frozen brine shrimp and garlic. Use a UV steriliser if possible to help reduce the chance of infections which are hard to clear up in reef systems.

How compatible is it with other fish?

A peaceful fish, do not keep with fish that may nip at its fins.

For the more experienced fish keeper.
