The Convict Cichlid originates from the slopes of Honduras, Guatemala, Costa Rica and Panama.
What are the ideal water conditions?
Ideal water conditions are a temperature of 24-30°c and a PH of 7-7.5.
What do you feed them?
Best to feed a variety of foods. Feed a varied diet of frozen, freeze dried, flake and cichlid pellets.
How compatible is it with other fish?
They are small as far as cichlids go but they are aggressive and must only be kept with similar cichlids of equal or larger size.
How do you breed them?
Very easy to breed. Put a pair together and they will do the rest. Ferochious parents they will defend the fry from fish twice their size.
