The Cuckoo Catfish originates from Lake Tanganyika.
How many can I keep?
Best kept in groups of 4 or more.
What are the ideal water conditions?
Ideal water conditions are a temperature between 21-26°c. PH 7.5-8.5.
What do you feed them?
Feed a varied diet of live and frozen food and dried food such as catfish pellets.
How compatible is it with other fish?
A peaceful fish if kept in groups of 4 or more and with medium or large fish. Ideal tank mates are African rift cichlids or larger tetras and barbs. Provide caves of rocks or bogwood or pots.
How do you breed them?
Males are smaller and have longer pectoral spines. The Cuckoo Catfish derives its name from darting between spawning cichlids depositing and fertilising it's eggs amongst the cichlids eggs. The mouth brooding female cichlid then picks up the eggs and raises the catfish fry with her own.
