Where are they from?
The Praecox Rainbow is a beautiful peaceful fish originating from the Mamberamo River, New Guinea.

How many can I keep?
This fish does best kept in groups of six or more in a peaceful community aquarium.

What are the ideal water conditions?
Ideal conditions for this fish are slightly acidic, slightly soft to slightly hard. All of the Dwarf Neon Rainbow available are farm bred and will adapt to most water parameters providing the water is not very hard.

What do you feed them?
They are omnivores and will eat a variety of foods. Feed a varied diet of frozen, freeze dried, and flake.

How compatible is it with other fish?
Ideal for a peaceful community tank.

How do you breed them?
The males develop a deep body shape. Feed the fish well to get them into condition. The adults will lay a large number of eggs over moss. Feed the fry on infusoria for 1-2 weeks, then feed on newly hatched brine shrimp. Providing you feed them well the adults can be left with the fry.
