What is its maximum size?
18cm.

Where are they from?
The Electric Blue Cichlid originates from Taiwan Reef Chinyankwazi and Chinyamwezi Islands Lake Malawi. Females and juveniles are grey, adult males turn the electric blue colour.

How many can I keep?
Best kept as one male with 2 or more females unless it's a large tank with plenty of hiding places.

What are the ideal water conditions?
Ideal water conditions are moderately hard with a temperature of 24-26°c. PH 7.8-8.6.

What do you feed them?
Feed a variety of frozen foods and cichlid pellets and flake.

How compatible is it with other fish?
Males will form territories and will defend it aggressively. Intolerant to other cichlids with the same blue metallic colour.

How do you breed them?
Females are smaller and grey with a soft blue sheen. The males are the electric blue. They are a mouth brooder. Spawning takes place on a flat rock or slate. Feed the fry on newly hatched brine shrimp.
