The Lemon Cichlid is a natrually occouring variant of the Electric Yellow Cichlid

How hard are they to keep?
It is reasonably easy to care for.

What is its maximum size?
13cm.

Where are they from?
A rock dwelling Mauna cichlid from Lake Malawi.

What are the ideal water conditions?
Ideal water conditions are moderately hard with a temperature of 23-28°c. PH 7.8-8.6.

What do you feed them?
Will eat almost any food but should include both plant and animal matter.

How compatible is it with other fish?
This is one of the more peaceful Malawi’s when compared with other varieties but would be
considered aggressive with standard tropical fish. See tank mates.

How do you breed them?

The female will lay unfertilised eggs on a flat stone; she will then take eggs into her mouth and follow the male until he releases sperm. The female will tend to the eggs; feed the fry on newly hatched brine shrimp.
