What is its maximum size?
Males have been known to reach 40cm; the females are smaller up to 35cm. Juveniles look different to adults.
Where is its origin and where is it exported from?
The Emperor Angelfish is from the tropical Indo Pacific, Red Sea and Hawaii.
Is it Reef Compatible?
Not ideal, add with caution, will nip at some corals.
What should I feed it?
Feed a varied diet of live food, frozen foods and plenty of algae. Will benefit from having some vitamin enriched food. Does best with live rock to graze on.
How many can I keep?
Best kept on its own.
How compatible is it with other fish?
House with other bold and robust tank mates. Takes a while to settle in but once acclimatised an adult will swim all around the aquarium and may chase other fish. Most Juveniles are ignored by larger tank mates as they can act as a cleaner to other fish.
Can it be bred in the aquarium?
No.
