What is its maximum size?
Where are they from?

The platy originates from Mexico Guatemala and Northern Honduras. Like the Swordtail, Platys have been farm bred to produce many colourful varieties.
How many can I keep?
These peaceful fish make an ideal addition to the community aquarium and are best kept in a least a pair.
What are the ideal water conditions?
All fish available are farm bred and will adapt to a wide range of water parameters. Water temperature is 21-25°c and PH 6.5-8.
What do you feed them?
They are omnivores and will eat a variety of foods. Feed a varied diet of frozen, freeze dried and flake foods.
How compatible is it with other fish?
A peaceful community fish. See tank mates.
How do you breed them?
 Platys breed readily and produce live young. In adult fish the male is smaller and have a gonodopium with which it directly fertilizes the female. Platys become adult after aprox 4 months and produce small broods.
