Where are they from?
The Hoplo Catfish originates from the Amazon River, South America.
How many can I keep?
Can be kept in groups, provide hiding places.
What are the ideal water conditions?
Ideal water conditions are a temperature between 20-28°c. PH 5.5-8.
What do you feed them?
Feed a varied diet of live and frozen food and dried food such as catfish pellets.
How compatible is it with other fish?
A peaceful species, can be boisterous. Best kept with medium sized fish.
How do you breed them?
Males have thicker pectoral fins as they mature. A bubble nest breeder, cool water can iniate breeding. In their natural environment they breed in the rainy season. Remove the female after breeding as the male can be aggressive while guarding the nest.
