Kribensis
What is its maximum size?
7/8cm
Where are they from?
The Kribensis origanates from Nigeria.
What are the ideal water conditions?
Ideal PH is 6.8-7.5
What do you feed them?
Best to feed a variety of foods. Feed a varied diet of frozen, freeze dried, flake and cichlid pellets
How compatible is it with other fish?
Peaceful for a cichlid, ideal for a boisterous community tank. Fish such as barbs and other fast moving fish. Avoid housing with slower more delicate fish such as guppies and Angels
How do you breed them?
It is difficult to sex juvenile fish. Adult males have pointed tail fins and dorsel fins. They are also larger with the female having rounder fins and their bellies are a brighter red/purple colour.
Once a pair have been established they will breed readily. You must provide a flower pot or cave like structure. They will not breed in the open.
They will breed in a wide range of PH conditions but a neutral water will provide a balanced sex ratio while a acid PH will produce heavier numbers of females and an alkaline PH will produce more males.
During breeding the pair will become more aggressive with the female caring for the young while the male defends the territory.
Fry can be fed on fine falke food or newly hatched brine shrimps
