Where are they from?
The Moonlight Gourami originates from Thailand and Cambodia. As with other gourami it can breath in air through it’s labyrinth organ.
How many can I keep?
Best kept in a pair or a group of 1 male and 2 females.
What are the ideal water conditions?
This fish is farm bred and will adapt to a wide range of water parameters. Ideal water conditions are soft acidic water, temperature range 26-30c and a PH of 6-7.
What do you feed them?
They are omnivores and will eat a variety of foods. Feed a varied diet of frozen, freeze dried and flake foods.
How compatible is it with other fish?
A peaceful community fish but grows large and when adult may eat small tetras and shrimps.
How do you breed them?
It is not easy to sex young fish but as they mature males develop a longer pointed dorsal fin whereas the females dorsal fin remains round. Gouramis build bubble nests at the surface incorporating any pieces of plant available. Blue, Opaline,Gold, Moonlight and Pearl Gouramis can produce as many as 2000 fry. Feed fry on infusoria.
