We would class this fish as an easy care level.

What is its maximum size?
15-30cm

Where are they from?
They originate from the Amazon Basin in South America.

What are the ideal water conditions?
Ideal water conditions would be soft to medium water with a PH of 6-7.5.

What do you feed them?
Best to feed a variety of foods. Feed a varied diet of frozen, freeze dried, flake and cichlid pellets.

How compatible is it with other fish?
Peaceful for a cichlid but too aggresive for most community tanks. Ideal tankmates would be other American Cichlids of a similar size.

How easy are they to breed?
Fairly easy to breed. The female will lay the eggs on horizontal wood or slate and the male follows fertilising the eggs. Both parents will protect the eggs and fry.
Males have extended anal and dorsal fins and have brighter markings on their gill plates.

Size- Juvenile 4-6cm
