They originate from Africa; Nigeria, Togo and Benin.

Ideal water conditions are a temperature of 21-25°c, PH 6.5-7.5

Best kept as 1 male to 2 females or in pairs.
What do you feed them?
Feed a varied diet of live, dried and flake food.
How compatible is it with other fish?
Ideal for the small peaceful community tank.
How do you breed them?
Males are more colourful and larger with elaborate fins. Condition 1 male and 2 females and place in a breeding tank with soft acidic water. They are relatively easy to breed. Place fine leaved plants and peat in a tank. Remove the peat after 2-3 weeks and store in a dark warm and moist area for 6-8 weeks. Then place the eggs in soft water and feed fry on infusoria and newly hatched brineshrimp.
