It is not normally possible to keep different types of wild clowns together due to their natural territorial aggression. This has meant that marine keepers have had to pick one type of clown which seems a shame when you see all the lovely varieties available. The situation with tank bred clowns is very different. Providing they are introduced together and are of a similar size. It is possible to keep pairs or groups of several varieties in the same tank.
Breeding Amphriprion Percula Temperature- 27-28c Place the conditioned adult pair in breeding tank of minimum 2’ without the filter but with an airstone. Place an upright tile in the centre of the tank. Around 700-800 eggs will be laid on the tile. Leave the parents with the eggs for six days, parental care of the eggs is essential during this time. Remove the adults on the seventh morning and the fry will hatch out at night aproximately 7-8 o’clock on the seventh day. The reason for removing the adults is while they will protect and tend the eggs, unfortunately once the fry hatch out they are liable to eat them. I hope the information has been interesting to you and maybe useful to you if you’re attempting to breed them. |
