What is its maximum size?
Typically up to approximately 5–8 cm in shell diameter, depending on the species.
Where is its origin and where is it exported from?
Turbo Snails are found in tropical and subtropical marine waters around the world, including the Indo-Pacific and eastern Pacific. They are commonly exported for the aquarium trade from countries such as Mexico, Indonesia and the Philippines, depending on the species.
Is it reef compatible?
Yes, reef safe. Turbo Snails are excellent algae grazers and help control unwanted algae on aquarium glass and rockwork. They generally leave corals and other invertebrates alone, but their size and strength mean they can accidentally knock over unsecured coral frags.
What should I feed it?
Feed mainly marine algae and seaweed. They graze naturally on algae growing on live rock and aquarium surfaces. If natural algae is limited, supplement with nori or suitable algae wafers. Ensure enough food is available to prevent starvation.
How many can I keep?
Can be kept in groups, depending on aquarium size and algae availability. Start with a small number and increase only if sufficient algae is available to support them.
How compatible is it with other fish?
Generally peaceful and compatible with most reef fish, corals and invertebrates. However, avoid keeping them with snail-eating species such as pufferfish, triggerfish and some large wrasses.
