What is its maximum size?
Typically around 1–3 cm in shell length, depending on the species.
Where is its origin and where is it exported from?
Nassarius Snails are found in marine waters around the world, including the Indo-Pacific and the Atlantic Ocean. They are commonly exported for the aquarium trade from countries such as Indonesia, the Philippines and other tropical coastal regions, depending on the species.
Is it reef compatible?
Yes, reef safe. Nassarius Snails are excellent scavengers that burrow into the sand and help clean up leftover food and organic matter. They generally leave corals and healthy invertebrates alone.
What should I feed it?
Feed a varied diet of meaty foods, including small pieces of prawns, mysis shrimp, brine shrimp and other marine seafood. They naturally locate leftover fish food and carrion. They are not algae eaters, so they may need supplemental feeding in very clean aquariums.
How many can I keep?
Can be kept in groups, depending on aquarium size and the amount of food available. Add an appropriate number for your tank and avoid overstocking, as insufficient food can lead to starvation.
How compatible is it with other fish?
Generally peaceful and compatible with most reef fish, corals and invertebrates. However, avoid keeping them with snail-eating species such as pufferfish, triggerfish and some large wrasses.
