What is its maximum size?
Typically grows to approximately 3–5 cm in length, depending on the species.
Where is its origin and where is it exported from?
Anemone Shrimp are found throughout the Indo-Pacific, including areas around Indonesia, the Philippines, the Great Barrier Reef and other tropical Pacific regions. They are commonly exported for the aquarium trade from countries such as Indonesia and the Philippines.
Is it reef compatible?
Generally reef compatible, with caution. Many species live among anemones and other invertebrates without harming them. However, compatibility depends on the exact species, and some may irritate delicate corals or compete with other small invertebrates for food.
What should I feed it?
Feed a varied diet of frozen mysis shrimp, enriched brine shrimp, finely chopped seafood and small sinking marine foods. They may also consume food captured by their host anemone. Feed small amounts regularly and ensure they receive enough nutrition.
How many can I keep?
Can often be kept singly or in compatible pairs, depending on the species and aquarium size. Some species may live in small groups, especially when a suitable host is available. Provide sufficient hiding places and avoid overcrowding.
How compatible is it with other fish?
Generally peaceful and suitable for many reef aquariums. However, small shrimp may be eaten by predatory fish such as lionfish, hawkfish, triggerfish and larger wrasses. Provide suitable shelter and avoid aggressive tankmates.
