About this fish
What is the maximum size?
Males around 14cm, the females are smaller.
Where does it come from?
The Algae Blenny is from the Indo Pacific.
Is it Reef Compatible?
Generally safe but map nip at some clams and stony corals.
What should I feed it?
Best to feed a varied diet. Mostly feeds on algae so offer plenty of frozen and dried algae. Also offer other frozen foods such as brine shrimp and Mysis. This fish will eat algae in the aquarium but make sure it is well fed too as it will be at risk of starving especially if there is not enough algae growth in the aquarium.
How many can I keep?
This fish is best kept on its own or in pairs.
How compatible is it with other fish?
May act aggressively towards smaller fish especially in a small aquarium. Best not to keep with other Blennies or similar fish to avoid problems.
Can it be bred in the aquarium?
This fish could potentially be bred in the aquarium. The male is usually larger and will guard the nest of eggs.
If it does not arrive alive, you do not pay for it.
Photograph the bag unopened, send it to us within four hours of delivery, and we will put it right with a refund or a replacement.* The health guarantee then covers you for a further ten days once it is in your tank.
*Whether we refund or replace is our decision and depends on the fish and its cost. A replacement may travel with a future order rather than straight away.
