About this fish
Exquisite Wrasse (Cirrhilabrus cf. exquisitus)
What is its maximum size?
The Exquisite Fairy Wrasse grows to approximately 12–15 cm (4.7–5.9 inches) in length.
Where is its origin and where is it exported from?
The species is widely distributed throughout the Indo-Pacific.
Is it reef compatible?
Yes. The Exquisite Fairy Wrasse is considered reef safe.
It generally leaves corals, ornamental shrimp, clams and other reef invertebrates alone. Its natural diet consists primarily of zooplankton and small crustaceans rather than coral tissue or larger ornamental invertebrates.
What should I feed it?
The Exquisite Fairy Wrasse is a carnivorous planktivore.
Offer a varied diet consisting of:
- Frozen mysis shrimp.
- Enriched brine shrimp.
- Quality small marine pellets.
- High-quality marine flakes.
How many can I keep?
The Exquisite Fairy Wrasse can be kept singly or in a compatible group. In larger aquariums, a social group containing one male and several females can work particularly well.Keeping multiple males together can sometimes result in territorial aggression, especially in smaller aquariums or where there is limited swimming space.
Females can naturally change sex and develop male colouration when social conditions allow. This is a normal characteristic of fairy wrasses.
How compatible is it with other fish?
The Exquisite Fairy Wrasse is generally peaceful and makes an excellent addition to established marine community and reef aquariums.
However, males can become territorial towards other male fairy wrasses, particularly those with similar colouration or body shapes.
It is best introduced into a peaceful, established aquarium.~@
