What is its maximum size?

Up to approximately 15 cm in length.

Where is its origin and where is it exported from?

The Eibli Angelfish originates from the Indo-West Pacific, primarily the eastern Indian Ocean. Its natural distribution extends from Sri Lanka and the Maldives through the Andaman Sea and Indonesia to north-western Australia. It inhabits rocky reef areas and coral-rich environments, where it spends much of its time grazing on algae.

Is it reef compatible?
With caution. Although it can be kept in reef aquariums, it may nip at certain corals and invertebrates, particularly LPS corals, soft corals, zoanthids and clam mantles.

Individual fish vary in behaviour, and even well-fed specimens may develop a taste for corals. It is therefore not considered completely reef safe.

What should I feed it?
The Eibli Angelfish is an omnivore that naturally feeds primarily on algae and other material found growing on reef surfaces.

Offer a varied diet consisting of:
- Marine algae and dried seaweed (nori).
- Frozen mysis shrimp and brine shrimp.
- Finely chopped seafood such as krill, mussel and squid.

How many can I keep?
Best kept singly in most home aquariums. Eibli Angelfish can be territorial, particularly towards other dwarf angelfish and similar-looking species.

How compatible is it with other fish?

Generally semi-aggressive but suitable for many established marine community aquariums.

It can become territorial towards other dwarf angelfish, particularly those with similar body shapes or colour patterns. It is generally compatible with appropriately sized tangs, clownfish, wrasses, gobies and other peaceful to moderately robust tankmates.
